     Six RS Ranch TETRA Ride

    Join us at the lovely SIX RS Ranch for several days of riding the open trails and thick forests this ranch has to offer.  This is a working ranch, with cattle, and other wildlife.  Dorris Ann has added a bath house at the campground.  With these improvements, the area has really changed.  Come support SIX RS and enjoy the ride!   


    Early Thursday arrivals and Monday departures are allowed and charged an additional $10/day to Dorris Ann.  This does not cover fees for pens, RV hookups and lodging.  Riding on your own without a guide is at your own risk.  Trails are marked, a GPS is useful.  Contact Dorris Ann by text to make these early/late arrival/departure arrangements.  

    For those that are not arriving early, please do not arrive until Friday at 1:00PM.  Check in will begin by 4:00, PM, with current Coggins required. Sunday gates close at 2:00PM from all residences and camp area, unless guest has extended their stay with Dorris Ann. 

    TETRA member $30/person, $40/non-member Day-rider $20 Non-rider/meals only $10. Children 18 years of age and younger accompanied by a riding adult are no charge. 

    • Friday arrival-Check in and registration, Meet and Greet  
    • Friday: Ride out on your own.  Do not go through any gates. 
    • 7:30PM Bring your favorite appetizers to share at the fire. Bring your own drinks and chairs.
    • 9:00am Saturday: Ride, snacks provided by SIX RS on the trail. 
    • 12:00: Return to campground for lunch on your own. 
    • 3:00PM Ride out, return to camp about 5:30. 
    • 7:00PM Saturday Potluck TETRA provides the meat, served at the campground light pole across from the pens. 
    •  9:00AM Sunday Ride, return to camp at 11am.  
    • Depart no later than 2:00PM.  
    • RV-12 hookups 30-50 amps and water. Primitive camping in the pasture by the lake, with designated generator area. 
    • Public restroom.
    • A fully furnished house, the Painted Horse Inn, available to rent for $250/night.  It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a full kitchen and living area.  There are 4 queen beds and 3 double beds.  Accommodates up to 14 people.
    • Bunkhouse HQ, 2 miles from the campground. Sleeps 6 with full kitchen and bath, $100/night.
    • Pens with covered stalls and runs $25 each/weekend. 
    • To reserve an RV site, pens, the bunkhouse or the inn, text Dorris Ann 903-388-0439. A waitlist will be kept and assigned on a first come first/serve basis with Dorris Ann.  

    Ride surface is mainly red sand, with rocky creek crossings.  

    TETRA rules /trail etiquette must be observed on all TETRA sponsored trail rides. Horses prone to kick must have a red ribbon attached to their tail. Dogs must always stay on a leash. No dogs on the trail. 

    We ask you to leave the pasture as pristine as you found it.  

    Please be ready by the set "ride out" time. Make this trail ride enjoyable and safe for everyone by adhering to trail ride rules.

    DIRECTIONS: In Buffalo, Texas, turn south on Hwy 75 from the intersection of Hwy 79 and 75.  Go 4 miles to FM 831 and turn east. You will go 10 miles - through the town of Flo and across Serasco Creek - to a brick gate.  Take the ranch road to the camp area. Signs will be posted.

    Join us for a weekend ride at Land Heritage Institute, San Antonio.  This destination offers miles of lovely riding, excellent gathering area and much local history of ranching in San Antonio.  LHI is reserved for this ride, LHI members and Saturday riders will not have access to the park during this weekend.

    Bring auction items for live auction to LHI headquarters building Saturday night.  Any donated items are appreciated from attendees. 

    Gates open at 12:00PM. Registration begins at 5 P.M Friday.

    Fee:  TETRA member adults $30, non-member $40, day-rider $20, non-rider/meals $10. Children 18 years of age and younger with a riding, registered adult, no fee.  For site reservations email Monica Soto at mvalague@att.net no earlier than noon on September 3rd. 

    Friday 6:00 Bring your favorite appetizer to share 

    Saturday 6:00 Pot luck dinner.  TETRA will provide the meat and provide utensils and plates. All other meals on your own. Day riders: $20/day-no meals.

    Parking is tight, be considerate when setting up camp.  Ride manager assigns sites upon arrival.  If you cannot attend, please cancel your site by emailing Monica at mvalague@att.net.  LHI discounts do not apply during this LHI benefit weekend.    

    No ground campfires are allowed.  Above ground wood or charcoal BBQ grills and propane are permitted with extreme caution.  The area is grassy with the potential of fire being high. 

    Water for horses is available at LHI HQ.  Restroom/shower is also available at LHI HQ.

    Davy Crockett Nation Forest Trail Ride

    October 17-19, 2025

    Come join us to ride the 50+ miles of marked trails of the Piney Creek Horse Trail in the Davy Crockett National Forest.  We will be camped at the beautiful TbarS Horse Camp at 6387 FM 2781 Kennard, TX 75847.  Make hookup and cabin reservations at TbarS website.


    Friday 6:00 Check In and Meet N Greet at the pavilion–please bring an appetizer to share.

    Guided ride out times to be determined or ride on your own

    Lunch and afternoon ride on your own 

    6:00 Potluck dinner, TETRA providing the main course and paper goods.

    Primitive camping at no charge for TETRA rides, with horse water available. Please only use a small area for your pens.  (Primitive camping only allowed during TETRA rides.  During non-TETRA events all registration must be made online at recreation.gov).

    TETRA & Hill Country State Natural Area Partners Benefit Ride


    The Lodge

    November 14-16,2025


    Join us for a benefit ride for the State Natural Area Partners (SNAP) non-profit and TETRA.  A lively auction, great food, wonderful people and spectacular riding.

     

    Our campsite is at the Lodge, a 1930s ranch house, a SNAP project using funds raised by TETRA.

    Five electric hookups are available at the front of the lodge. Primitive camping is available in front of the lodge and behind the lodge for dry camping; generators are allowed overnight.  No parking/camping under trees.


    Guided trail ride groups are Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning.

    Registration:  tetratrails.org.

    Friday check in begins at 4:00PM.

    Saturday registration begins at 7:00am.  All riders must check in and sign release and present a current Coggins. 

    Ride participants do not need to stop by the Park Ranger Station.  TETRA will issue vehicle hangtags after you arrive at the Lodge. 

    6:00PM Friday night appetizer potluck bring your favorite appetizer to share.  

    7:30-8:45 AM Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast compliments of Carey Reed, SNAP President 

    12:00 Lunch on your own

    6:00 Potluck Supper on Saturday, TETRA will supply the meat, bring your favorite side dish and your own drinks.

    9:00 am Ride out on Saturday return at lunch ride out at 2:00 pm. 

    9:00 am Sunday morning ride.  Riders may ride out with this group or ride on their own. 

    Arrive no earlier than 1:00PM Friday depart by 1:00 Sunday.


    Please bring items for Saturday evening auction.  

    Ride Fee: TETRA Members $30.  Non-Members $40 Day rider $20 Non-rider/meals only $10. Children under 18 years old are no charge accompanied by a registered, riding adult. Day Riders/non-riders $15.


    Electric hookup: $50 for the weekend. Site reservations can be made by emailing Monica Soto at mvalague@att.net no earlier than noon on October 15th. Include any special requests in your email for the site reservation


    Reminder: TPWD prohibits the public consumption or display alcohol including outdoor areas.  


    Bring your drinking water 

    • Clean pens and haul to manure area, and all hay
    • Water available for horses  
    • Horses prone to kick must have a red ribbon attached to their tails.
    • Horses should have shoes or boots, the terrain is very rocky
    • Dogs on a leash, no dogs on the trails (state park rule), no dogs in the cook shack or lodge.

    DIRECTIONS:  From Bandera, take Hwy 173 S to FM 1077which turns into Bandera Creek Road; highway sign announces Hill Country State Natural Area, turn right and drive past HQ ranger station. past Bar-O Day Use, past Trailhead Camp, to Group Lodge.  Electric sites are on your right.  Primitive parking the pasture behind the arena. Do not park/camp under oak trees.  Do not stop at Park Headquarters.

    Come join TETRA at the beautiful Mineola nature preserve December 5-7. This is a NO HUNTING park

    Friday 5 PM meet and greet at the TETRA banner check in (sign waivers and Coggins check)

    The Derby Equestrian Pavilion has a kitchen area, restrooms with showers, and a horse wash station.

    Ride rules:  Current negative Coggins required, all dogs must be on leash and are not allowed on the trail, no riding doubles, horses who are prone to kick must have a red flag on their tail.  Trail boss makes all camp and ride decisions.  No smoking or drinking on the trail.  This is a family outing. Please join us.

    Directions:   

    DO NOT TURN AT THE MINEOLA NATURE PRESERVE SIGN AT 2724.  TURN OFF LOOP 564 TO THE DERBY EQUESTRIAN CENTER CAMPGROUND BY THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT.

    From I-20, in Lindale, Texas: Turn North on U.S. 69, about 14 miles, cross the Sabine River and then continue approximately 1.5 miles, turn right (east) on Loop 564: For the Equestrian Trail Head: About one fourth mile, turn right on first road right before County Road 2724. Turn at the water treatment sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.

    U.S.69 from Greenville/Alba Texas and from U.S. Hwy37: Continue through Mineola; proceed south to Loop 564.  Go under the overpass to Loop 564. Approximately one fourth mile, turn right on first road before County Road 2724.  Turn at the water treatment plant sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.

    U.S. Hwy 80, traveling west from Hawkins, Texas: Go under the overpass for Loop 564, turn right (north) and follow signs to Loop 564.  Continue right (south) on Loop 564 first street past County Road County Road 2724.  Turn at the water treatment plant sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.

    U.S. Hwy 80, traveling east from Grand Saline, Texas: Continue through Mineola to the intersection of U.S. Hwy 69, turn right (south) on U.S. 69.  Proceed to Loop 564.  Go under the overpass to Loop 564.  Approximately one fourth mile, turn right on first road before County Road 2724.  Turn at the water treatment plant sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.

    DIRECTIONS:  13816 N. Maxdale Rd. Killeen, Texas.  Parrie Haynes Equestrian Center.  From the south, IH-35, take Hwy 195 toward Killeen FM 2670.  From north IH35, Travel to Maxdale Road on the right, before the bridge.  Do not turn on Gann Ranch Road, it is a dead end and is not your destination.  Drive to the top of the hill, past the power lines, to yellow pipe fencing, turn left at Parrie Haynes Equestrian Center across from the sign and fencing.

    From the north, IH35, take IH14/190W, toward Killeen.  Exit 283, toward TX 195 south, travel to Clear Creek Road exit on the right continue to S Clear Creek Road, turn left on Maxdale Road.  Continue to Parrie Haynes Equestrian Ranch on the Right.
