Region 8 Benefit Trail Ride

Join us at McCown Valley Equestrian Campground for this benefit ride.  All proceeds are dedicated to park improvements and will highlight new trail marking and hitching posts.

Ride Donation Fees: TETRA member $30, Non-Members $40, Day-rider $20, non-rider/meals only $10, campsite with electric, $40 for two nights.  Children 18 years of age and younger are no fee with a paid riding adult.   

Need a campsite, register for this ride, and reserve a campsite online at tetratrails.org.  Site cancelation allowed up to seven days before the event.  Contact Sylvia Perry when you arrive for the site number assignment. 

These are 50-amp hookups with hitching posts, pens and a vault toilet.  The campground has shaded and non-shaded sites.  Do not register at recreation.gov. Equestrian campground sites 76-92 will appear reserved because they are blocked for this event.

The day use equestrian campground has covered pens, sites 55-65 for overflow. Some have electricity. Park staff fills these on a first come first served basis.  

Friday: Check in, Negative Coggins and sign liability release.

Friday evening, Meet and Greet, Friday night: sausage links. Bring your favorite appetizer. 

Saturday evening Potluck-Bring your favorite dish, 

Bring your own water or drink.   

Be sure to bring something for the silent auction, which benefits work supplies for Lake Whitney workdays.  Auction will close after supper.

Saturday: Ride out at 8 am and return by 11:30. Lunch time in camp. Swim, play games, take a boat ride, take a nap, sit around camp, and catch up on old times. Ride out on your own in the afternoon. 

Sunday: ride out at 8 am and return by 11:30.

All TETRA ride and Army Corps of Engineers rules will be observed. Dogs must always be on a leash.  

Directions:  From I-35 take TX 22 west to Whitney, slight right onto E Jefferson Ave in Whitney, Turn right onto FM 933 north.  In about 2.4 miles turn left onto FM 1713 west. Go 3.9 miles and stay stra­ight Turn right onto FM 933 north.  In about 2.4 miles turn left onto FM 1713 west.  Go another 3.9 miles and stay straight onto State Spur 1713 and follow signs to park entrance.

From Waco take FM 933 (Gholson Road) north to FM 1713 west, on the north side of Whitney. Turn left onto FM 1713 and go another 3.9 miles.  Stay straight onto State Spur 1713 and follow signs to park entrance.

From Meridian take TX 22 east to Whitney.  Turn left onto FM 933 north to FM 1713 west. Go another 3.9 miles and stay straight onto State Spur 1713 and follow signs to park entrance.   

  

Register at tetratrails.org. Use PayPal or pay upon arrival.  If campsite/hookup is not canceled seven days before the event, funds will be credited for future rides. To request a refund of the ride fee only, minus 10% administrative fee, email tetrassoc@gmail.com
