McCown Valley Workdays
May 9-11, 2024
Workdays at McCown Valley: Workdays were scheduled in March, but was moved to May 9-11. We realize this is Mother Day weekend, and are starting on Thursday and will wrap up on Saturday. Join us for the clean up prior to the June trail ride.
This is beautiful park is located on Lake Whitney and is TETRA's first project after founding in 1997.
This is a non-horse work mounted event. We will be working Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Breakfast for volunteers Friday, and Saturday with orange juice and coffee.
Potluck Friday, with stew compliments of Sylvia Perry. Potluck Saturday. Lunch on your own each day.
Let Sylvia know you are bringing a tractor for shredding or a post-hole digger to put up signage. Sylvia has to complete and send forms to Corps of Engineers on all equipment. If you have a side-by-side, that will help to get around on the trails checking for downed trees and clearing and marking trails for signage.
Bring your loppers and nippers and best walking shoes.
- We will be working on the TETRA barn at the Day Use area at McCown Valley to stabilize the poles in the middle of the barn.
- We will be working on trail marking.
Camping is in the day use area, 10 spots available. This no fee to for volunteers. For anyone wanting to come, please call or text Sylvia for an electrical spot at the Day Use area. If you register online, you will have to pay for your spot. Horses welcome, ride after trail work is finished for the day. Questions or for a hookup site, please text or call Sylvia at 254-744-1405.
