Richards-Raven Equestrian Trail
Sam Houston National Forest
Join us for a day ride at this amazing trail system in the Sam Houston National Forest. This is developed and maintained by dedicated volunteers. Come enjoy bridges and trails through the thick forest with miles of riding trails.

There is no overnighting at the trailhead.
We will ride at 9:30am, with a Richards-Raven volunteer in the lead. The kiosk has trail and map information. There is no fee to park or ride trails. Suggested donation of $20 to assist in covering liability insurance. Current Coggins is required, no dogs on the trail. There is no water on this trail.
There are 19.5 miles of trail that meanders through Blackland prairies and pine plantations. The trailhead is located at the intersection of Forest Service Road 209 and FM 1791 and will accommodate horse trailers. There is no restroom at the trailhead. It is closest to New Waverly. Directions: From I-45, take FM 1375 west for approximately 14 miles, then turn north on FM 149 for about 1.5 miles. Turn north on FM 1791 and continue for about 4.5 miles, then turn west onto Forest Service Road 209. The trailhead is located at the intersection of Forest Service Road 209 and FM 1791. From the north on I45 turn right on FM1791, cross Hwy 30. Stay on FM 1791 to Richards Raven on the right.
From the south, from IH 45, exit Hwy 30, turn left Turn left at FM 1791.
