Due to inclement weather November 18-20, this ride is rescheduled for December 16-18, 2022, at the Lodge.  If you registered and cannot attend, request a refund at tetrassoc@gmail.com. If you are registered and can attend, all arrangements for pens, hookups, registration will transfer.

All proceeds benefit the State Natural Area Partners (SNAP) non-profit, whose mission is to improve this park's campgrounds. 

This is held at the Lodge, a 1930s ranch house, a SNAP project. Stalls/corrals hold up to five horses. There are five electric hookups available at the front of the lodge and an open pasture behind the lodge for dry camping; generators are allowed overnight.

Big thank you to Monica Soto and Dianna Caballero, who organized a cleanup crew at the Hill Country State Natural Area Lodge. They brought their tractors and nippers and cleaned up the arena and pens.

Guided trail ride groups will be Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning.

Friday check in begins at 4:00PM.

Saturday registration begins at 7:00am.  All riders must check in and sign release and present a current Coggins. Ride participants do not need to stop by the Park Ranger Station.  TETRA will issue vehicle hangtags after you arrive at the Lodge. 

6:00PM Friday night appetizer potluck.  Meet and greet, and social hour.  

7:30-8:45 AM Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast.  Lunch is on your own.

12:00 Monica and Gilbert Soto are cooking hamburgers with all the fixings.

During lunch, enjoy, the sponsored Bandera Junior Rangers perform in the arena, a flag drill and their drill choreographed to music. Also planned is mounted archery demonstration with horseback soccer using large exercise balls. Carey Reed, SNAP president, coordinated this demonstration. Donations accepted to assist with expenses.

5:00PM Guest trainer, Josh Staggs, Horsemanship Coach, Trainer, and Competitor had a scheduling conflict and will not be attending.

6:00 Potluck Supper on Saturday, TETRA will supply the meat, bring your favorite side dish and your own drinks.

9:00 am Ride out on Saturday return at lunch ride out at 2:00 pm. 

9:00 am Sunday morning ride.  Riders may ride out with this group or ride on their own. 

Arrive after noon Friday, leave by noon on Sunday.

Please bring items for Saturday evening auction. All proceeds go to State Natural Area Partners (SNAP) for park improvements. This is a live auction.  

Ride Fee: TETRA Members $20.  Non-Members $35. Children under 18 years old are no charge accompanied by a registered, riding adult. Day Riders/non-riders $15.

Electric hookup: $50 for the weekend. Horse pens are $20 for the weekend. There are five (reserved-wait list) 30-amp electric sites and nine pens.  A large, fenced area next to the arena, max five horses is $40/ weekend. 

The Lodge is available (no longer available) to rent for $250.00/weekend maximum of eight.  All trash must be picked up and disposed at the ranger station.  The Lodge does not supply any linens or any amenities.

·       Bring your drinking water and full-on board water tanks. 

·       Water available for horses  

·       Horses prone to kick must have a red ribbon attached to their tails.

·       Horses should have shoes or boots, the terrain is very rocky

·       Dogs must always stay on a leash no dogs on the trails (state park rule).

ALL STATE PARK RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED BY ALL ATTENDEES, IGNORING RULES MAY RESULT IN BEING ASKED TO LEAVE. 

DIRECTIONS:  From Bandera, take Hwy 173 S to FM 1077which turns into Bandera Creek Road; highway sign announces Hill Country State Natural Area, turn right and drive past HQ ranger station. past Bar-O Day Use, past Trailhead Camp, to Group Lodge.  Electric sites are on your right.  Primitive parking the pasture behind the arena. Do not park/camp under oak trees.  Do not stop Park Headquarters.
