Richards-Raven Equestrian Trail

Sam Houston National Forest

Date change due to an event conflict at Richards-Raven Sam Houston National Forest.

Join us for a day ride at this amazing trail system in the Sam Houston National Forest. This is developed and maintained by dedicated volunteers.  Come enjoy bridges and trails through the thick forest with miles of riding trails.

Coach House Horse camp is a private facility across from the parking lot for  overnight camping. There is no overnighting at the trailhead.

We will ride at 9:30am, with a Richards-Raven volunteer in the lead. The kiosk has trail and map information. There is no fee to park or ride trails. Suggested donation of $20 to assist in covering liability insurance.  Current Coggins is required, no dogs on the trail.  There is no water on this trail.

There are 19.5 miles of trail that meanders through Blackland prairies and pine plantations.  The trailhead is located at the intersection of Forest Service Road 209 and FM 1791 and will accommodate horse trailers.  There is no restroom at the trailhead. It is closest to New Waverly.  Questions, text at 512-658-0937.  Register for this event at tetratrails.org.
