Region 9 Work Weekend/ Ride

Nails Creek, Lake Somerville on October 30-31.

We will be working in the morning and then riding in the afternoon. We are also planning on having a pumpkin carving contest in the evening....so bring those pumpkins out and give it a try. We are also planning on a contest for the best decorated trailier. If someone feels really energetic, we might also plan a scavenger hunt on Saturday.

I encourage each of you to come out and help us support the riding area at Nails Creek. It is very important that we show the State of Texas that we REALLY want to keep ridiing at Nails. Following is some information you will need to know about when reserving a spot this time at Nails:

"Thought I'd let you know, the Texas Parks and Wildlife online reservation system, ReserveAmerica, has problems concerning Nails Creek Park. On their web page, under LOOKING FOR, if you enter "horse site", and under LOOP, you enter "Bent Tree," it always says "nothing available". Instead, under LOOKING FOR, enter "Any Camping Spot" and under LOOP, enter "Bent Tree."
That will get you to the correct page for equestrian sites. As of this
afternoon, they have 10 sites left. The surest way, of course, is to call the TPWD reservation number: (512) 389-8900. I know many people have not gone to Nails Creek because they believe it to be full when, in most cases, it's a ReserveAmerica error." Teresa, an explanation to my previous email: As of today, there are 10 sites left for the Region 9 Work Weekend, October 30 and 31. Sorry for any confusion."

Thanks to Susan and Norman Cumings for letting me know about the problem with the reservation site online.

There are also spots in the non-electric area if the electrical ones are full.

As usual, we will have a pot luck dinner on Saturday night.

Thanks again for all your support with TETRA and I hope to see you at Nails.
Please feel free to invite other riding groups that you might be affiliated with.
