Caprock Canyon Trailway
May 1-5, 2022
Join us for a week at Caprock Canyon State Park volunteering on the trailway. Currently closed due to unsafe conditions with some of the trestle bridges in desperate need of repair. The trailway, an old train track which is approximately 64 miles, stretching from South Plains to Estaline.
This trailway was repurposed for pedestrians, bicycles, and equestrians. Over time, many of the wooden trestles or bridges have deteriorated. TETRA has scheduled May 2-5 to work with state park staff to repair and replace many of the wooden slats. Staff will supply materials and transportation to and from the work site.
Volunteers will gather each morning for transportation to the work site. Bring
No personal vehicles allowed on the trailway; this is not a mounted project.
The state park will waive entrance fees for any volunteers coming in on Sunday, May 1st through Thursday, May 5th.
