Mineola Nature Preserve Trail Ride

Come join us at the Mineola Nature Preserve, in Mineola Texas.

Friday

4:00-6:00PM Registration and rider check in at Derby campground

6:00-8:00 PM Meet n Greet Social hour bring a snack to share 

Saturday

9:00am Ride out return to camp at noon. 

2:00PM ride out return to camp at 5:00PM 

6:00PM Potluck 

Sunday

9:30 ride out return to camp at noon.  Depart camp by 2:00PM.


FEES: The Riding Fee is $20.00 for members, $35 for non-members children 18 years of age and younger are no charge and must be accompanied by a paying mounted rider.  Day rider fee is $10/day. 


Mineola Derby campground has 14 RV sites: 

  • RV site is $30.00 per night, available with electric, water, and sewer
  • Pens are $5.00/night/pen
  • Primitive camping is $5.00 a night.

Mineola Nature Preserve Trail Ride Update

All camping reservations are made with Steve Hancock.  He can be reached at 1-972-877-2206 or email at steveha2206@gmail.com.  A confirmation email or text will confirm the reservation.


  • deposit of $30 dollars is required and must be received by September 17.  Check is payable to Mineola Nature Preserve, mail to Steve Hancock,33064 Fm 85, Kemp, Texas 75143. 
  • Your site deposit must be received by September 17 to hold your site. 
  • Deposit is nonrefundable and will be applied to your total site cost.
  • The deposit will go to Mineola Nature Preserve if you cannot attend. 
  • Your site is rebooked to next in line on the wait list and will no longer be available.

The Derby Equestrian Pavilion has a kitchen area, restrooms with showers, and a horse wash station.

Ride rules:  Current negative Coggins required, all dogs must be on leash and are not allowed on the trail, no riding doubles, horses who are prone to kick must have a red flag on their tail.  Trail boss makes all camp and ride decisions.  No smoking or drinking on the trail.  This is a family outing. Please join us.

Directions:   

From I-20, in Lindale, Texas: Turn North on U.S. 69, about 14 miles, cross the Sabine River and then continue approximately 1.5 miles, turn right (east) on Loop 564: For the Equestrian Trail Head: About one fourth mile, turn right on first road right before County Road 2724. Turn at the water treatment sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.

U.S.69 from Greenville/Alba Texas and from U.S. Hwy37: Continue through Mineola; proceed south to Loop 564.  Go under the overpass to Loop 564. Approximately one fourth mile, turn right on first road before County Road 2724.  Turn at the water treatment plant sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.

U.S. Hwy 80, traveling west from Hawkins, Texas: Go under the overpass for Loop 564, turn right (north) and follow signs to Loop 564.  Continue right (south) on Loop 564 first street past County Road County Road 2724.  Turn at the water treatment plant sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.

U.S. Hwy80, traveling east from Grand Saline, Texas: Continue through Mineola to the intersection of U.S. Hwy 69, turn right (south) on U.S. 69.  Proceed to Loop 564.  Go under the overpass to Loop 564.  Approximately one fourth mile, turn right on first road before County Road 2724.  Turn at the water treatment plant sign, follow signs to horse trailer parking.
