Caprock Canyon Fall Ride

Come join TETRA for the beauty of fall in the Caprock Canyon State Park. Rich in history and canyon color, the fall is one of the best times to ride. Bison graze the park. Although we will attempt to avoid Bison encounters, it is possible we will view them.
Friday: Check in at park headquarters to pay all park fees and present current Coggins. Travel to Wildhorse campground and check in with TETRA ride volunteers. Fees are $20.00 member, $25 non member. Children 18 years of age or younger accompanied by a riding adult are no charge. Negative Current negative Coggins is required at check in.
Saturday: Ride out at 9:30 am from Wildhorse campground, plan your lunch on the trail. Trail ride will follow Wildhorse trail and travel east to Old Ranch Road. We will return to camp about 3:00pm.
Saturday night: Campers will gather in the fenced Wildhorse Campground for a potluck dinner. TETRA will provide cooked meat, plates, and eating utensils.
Sunday: Ride out at 10:00am traveling north to Lower and Upper Prong trails. Retun to camp, pack up and depart by noon.

Each site has a fenced pipe horse pen with water. No electric is available at the Wildhorse campground. There is overflow parking available nearby, which is not fenced. Horse water is available at the open parking area. Bring your own drinking water, camp water is non-potable. Restrooms and bathhouse is available one mile down the road at the RV campground. There are no restrooms at Wildhorse campground. Park rules are: All animals and livestock must be on a restraining leash. No public display of alcohol is allowed. Directions: The park is 3.5 miles north of State Highway 86 in Quitaque on FM 1065.
