RESCHEDULED Work Day at Lake Bardwell RESCHEDULED
When
13 Dec 2014
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location
Lake Bardwell, Ennis, TExas
The trails at Lake Bardwell are in great shape and getting better. Robin Howze has mowed and cleared trail with Lee Bateman and Jean Wilson over the past few weeks. We have also rerouted the trails. The white trail no longer exists. The Blue trail starts where the white trail was and goes all the way to the Rotary Bridge (So nice of them to make that bridge!) It is marked with blue all the way. We still have a few more stakes to make it perfect but it is very easy to follow and enjoy!
The pink and green trails are being maintained by the runners out there and for that I am very grateful. There are a few trees on the pink that just came down after we cleared it but you can get around them-just go slow till my elbows rest from this week's chainsawing!
We will be marking the red trail next and will be making a few changes to it also-all good changes of course.
The trail head has a new entrance until they reopen Waxahachie Creek Park. (I think it will be in the Spring) They are allowing overnight horse camping this winter for anyone. You must call and make reservations and keep the receipt of payment with you.
Effective September 5, 2014 thru March 31, 2015 the main entrance to Waxahachie Creek Park will be closed to thru traffic. All Bardwell Lake multi-use trail users( horse trails) will enter through the North entrance to the park off of Old Park Road, please see
attached map
for direction how to get to this new entrance. The horse user campsites will be available by reservation only through the National Recreation Reservation Service, phone number 1-877-444-6777 or
www.recreation.gov.
To inquire any more information about this please contact the Bardwell Lake Project Office 972-875-5711.
Planning on having a workday December 6 in the morning. At this point it will be a ride and clip for the blue trail and the front part of the pink trail. They need it really bad. We have done part of the blue trail already but it still needs to be completed. I may need a few other things to be done that day but won't know until I see what all gets done between now and then. If anyone has a day during the week that they can go out with me and do a few things or ride and clip let me know. I do know we need a weed-eater at the trail head. It has been mowed but not weed whacked. I have a weed-eater that rocks but I have my limits....so I will not weed-eat. I save my elbows for chainsawing-words I never thought I would have to say.
That's all I have for now. Enjoy the trails!
